We are currently recruiting an experienced Test Lab Engineer – Road Test Simulation to join our team supporting our client in the automotive industry.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up and conduct durability tests using MTS real-time hydraulically actuated simulators and conducting data acquisition using various data acquisition systems
- Coordinating test specimen build
- Set up data acquisition systems
- Simulator performance tuning and operation, data processing
- Daily durability test inspections/reporting, communicating test results to Product Engineering
- Attend test issue reporting meetings, and assist in conducting durability issue investigations
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Aeronautical Engineering required from an accredited university (will consider if candidate has mechanical/technician background)
- Minimum of 2-5 years of engineering experience within a testing environment within the automotive industry (Previous co-op students that were at ARDC would be considered)
- Will consider new graduates with related co-op experience
- Strong time management, leadership, planning and follow up skills
- Excellent written and oral skills
- Experience with data acquisition equipment using various transducers including accelerometers, load cells and strain gage
- Understanding of damage severity analysis and stress-life/load-life calculations
MTS RPC Pro and FlexTest experience - Detailed understanding of RPC Pro and FlexTest software to operate the simulators and possess a good ability to operate and conduct data acquisition at proving grounds
- Thorough understanding of damage severity concepts process
- Competent with the Microsoft Office Suite of products including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, VBA.
- Experience working in a unionized environment
- Experience working with servo-hydraulic systems including troubleshooting and tuning
- Detail oriented individual with a proven ability to lead projects from start to finish with minimal guidance
- Good leadership skills to coordinate and instruct bargaining unit mechanics in performing specimen builds, installations, repairs and teardowns
PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Aeronautical Engineering.
- Experience Minimum of 2-5 years of engineering experience within a testing environment within the automotive industry.
- Hydraulically actuated testing experience using MTS RPC Pro/FlexTest software.
- Experience with nCode and Somat eDAQ equipment.
- Previous CANBUS experience, (CANanlyzer, etc).
- Strain gauge theory and application.
NOTE:
- Must be willing and able to travel to the USA, without restrictions, effective on the start date
- Will be required to drive a company car. Valid driver's license is required as well as a clean driving record
- Shift: Afternoons (6 weeks / 3pm - 11pm), midnight shifts (6 weeks / 11pm – 7 am) and weekends (day, night, or midnight shift option) on occasion. On a rotation basis
