Job Description

Our client, a leading Tier 1 manufacturing supplier is looking for a Quality Engineer to join their team as they launch a new facility in Windsor.

NOTE:

  • Afternoon shift

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate/participate in the Engineering development of Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) documents for assigned Launch programs.
  • Facilitate/participate in the Manufacturing development of Process Flows (PF) and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) documents for assigned Launch programs
  • Facilitate and ensure the development of Design and Process Control Plans. These shall be based on customer requirements, Characteristic Matrix and FMEAs
  • Facilitate and ensure the development of an appropriate Measurement System Analysis (MSA) plan for the Launch. Identify appropriate statistical tools and techniques required for assessing process capability and verify all measuring devices are included on the Control Plan and PDFSS Scorecard
  • Ensure preparation and on-time delivery of new product-related Customer Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) packages
  • Ensure that Launch related Customer, internal and supplier quality corrective actions (8D’s) meet the required timing, quality and format
  • Ensure initial capability studies are properly performed and documented for initial builds and product changes affecting special characteristics, and that Customer and internal requirements are met (or a written Customer deviation is obtained)
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable quality Customer-specific systems and requirements
  • Ensure IMDS compliance, where applicable
  • Attend all System Simultaneous Development Team meetings and provide required quality documents per program timing
  • Facilitate/participate in Engineering Design Reviews of specifications and drawings related to the system and develop the Characteristic Matrix.
  • Assist/support Supplier Quality Engineer, as needed, including supplier selection, kick-off meetings and process sign off
  • Support DV/PV builds and verify that parts meet dimensional and functional requirements
  • Ensure the appropriate inspection plans and containment plans are developed for Launch
  • Lead Internal Audits, report audit findings and ensure timely close out of any required corrective actions

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quality, Engineering, or Science related field
  • 7-10 years of production experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Familiar with IATF 16949 Standards and supporting and assisting with IATF 16949 Compliance (Internal Auditor Experience preferred)
  • Experience with the application and management of quality control processes - such as APQP, Control Plans, Corrective actions, Root Cause analysis, Quality Documents, FME, PPAP and Gauging etc., in a high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Experience with leading launch activities
  • Tier 1/Tier 2 Automotive Experience Preferred
  • Knowledge of statistical concepts, design of experiments and problem-solving methodology is required
  • Knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing methods is highly desirable
  • Leadership experience, coaching and developing a team of professionals is an asset
  • Proficient in use of a computer and common office software (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to work in a self-directed environment
  • Good mechanical/technical skills and ability to read engineering drawings are desirable
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including experience preparing problem-solving documents such as 8D’s
  • Ability to work a varied shift and overtime as required, at times with little notice
  • Experience working directly with customers and suppliers, particularly automotive related
  • Must be willing and able to travel to the USA, without restrictions, effective on the start date
