Job Description

We are currently recruiting an experienced Automation Engineer to join our team supporting our client in the automotive industry.

NOTE:

  • Hybrid
  • Must be willing and able to travel to the USA, without restrictions, effective on the start date

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop test scripts for executing various development and validation tests for EV battery packs
  • Contribute to a world-class battery lab from the launch stage all the way to the full operation
  • Initially the role will be focused on training, documentation and launch of the lab; will be required to complete all needed training and follow all lab safety processes and procedures.
  • Developing and validating test scripts with assistance from equipment supplier and inputs from internal stakeholders
  • Work with battery pack test engineers on the commissioning of the new battery lab
  • Ensure all test scripts meet safety and functional requirements
  • Maintain an open line of communication with all test requestors to stay current with various testing needs
  • Provide support at testbeds as needed to ensure proper execution of test scripts
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues during test process

In lab launch stage:

  • Creating and maintaining all testing scripts, managing common test solutions and variables
  • Complete required training; follow safety requirements
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and equipment suppliers to develop and validate test scripts
  • Provide essential support during commissioning and acceptance tests

Lab in full operation:

  • Develop, validate, and maintain test scripts
  • Ensure all test scripts meet safety requirements and maintain the highest quality
  • Implement best practices across all test scripts
  • Coordinate common variables and solutions among various battery labs
  • Proactively identify and troubleshoot issues within the test system and scripts
  • Support test engineers in root cause analysis and project meetings
  • Assist in test data processing
  • Support initiatives aimed at enhancing lab operation efficiency and reducing costs
  • Keep training record up to date
  • Escalate issues to management when necessary

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in scripting for testing, automation of hardware systems. (excluding software app testing)
  • Proficient in programming languages, such as VB Script, MATLAB and Python
  • Knowledge of CAN communication
  • Master of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with AVL PUMA/LYNX scripting
  • Experience with CAN tools such as Vector CANalyzer
  • Knowledge of Lithium-ion battery and characterization
  • Experience with battery pack testing or related systems testing
  • Stay updated with advancements in test automation and data management technologies
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities with keen attention to detail
  • Excellent skills to write clear, concise, and accurate documents
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines

PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATONS

  • Master of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
