We are recruiting an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join our team to support our client in the automotive industry. This is a high-impact position that requires a developer who can lead a small team, mentor others, and ensure no integration defects escape to validation
NOTE:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Full-stack ownership of the Vehicle Information Manager (VIM).
- Responsible for the entire lifecycle of vehicle data from the Python-based toolchain that generates configurations to the high-performance C++ daemon that processes live traffic.
- Own the end-to-end architecture of the Vehicle Information Manager, including the core daemon, client libraries, and configuration toolchains
- Daemon Development: Lead the development of the fnv2vim daemon, focusing on high-performance CAN PDU processing, signal transmission, and the provision of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) services
- API & Library Management: Develop and maintain public-facing client libraries utilized by every application on the ECG platform
- Toolchain Engineering (~10-15% of time): Maintain and evolve the configuration toolchain, a Python-based pipeline that transforms Database data into optimized VIM runtime configurations
- Quality & Testing: Design and maintain comprehensive multi-threaded real-time unit test suites using Google Test/GMock to ensure 100% reliability of the data broker
- Technical Leadership: Lead and mentor a small team of 2¿4 developers, providing code reviews, architectural guidance, and driving best practices in embedded C++
- Cross-Functional Integration: Act as the primary point of contact for ECG application teams, ensuring seamless integration between vehicle network data and high-level software services.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or a WES-evaluated equivalent
- 8+ years of professional experience in Embedded Linux development using modern C++
- Real-Time Systems: Proven expertise in developing real-time, multi-threaded systems where performance and latency are critical
- Middleware & IPC: Deep understanding of SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture), IPC middleware, and asynchronous RPC patterns
- Automotive Protocols: Expert-level knowledge of CAN bus protocols, including PDU encoding/decoding and complex network configurations
- Testing Frameworks: Advanced proficiency with Google Test (GTest) and GMock, specifically for off-target simulation and multi-threaded coverage
- Python Proficiency: Strong scripting skills using Python (pytest, pandas) to manage data-heavy configuration pipelines
- Leadership: Experience technically leading or mentoring a small team (2¿4 developers) in an agile environment
- Proactive Mindset: A track record of "owning" a system identifying gaps, improving processes, and driving architectural enhancements beyond the immediate assigned tasks
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- $52.00 - $56.00/hour ( depending on experience)
- Paid Benefits after 90 days (individual and family) – extended medical, out-of-country coverage, dental etc.
- Pension eligibility, with employer match, after 1 full year of work (open enrollment every October)
