Job Description

We are looking for a Payroll & Benefits Administrator to join the MEDA team. Reporting to the Director of Operations you will be responsible for processing weekly and bi-weekly payroll, coordinating benefit enrolment and managing ongoing pension participation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process high-volume bi-weekly and weekly payroll for internal and field employees, ensuring all government regulations are always followed. Gather employee timesheets from internal and external sources; reviewing with managers for accuracy.
  • Work with accounting team to ensure that all government related reports are submitted accurately and on time.
  • Onboard new employees and ongoing maintenance of employee files relating to payroll, benefits and pension. Prepare all end of employment paperwork for employees.
  • Prepare weekly client invoices based on hours worked or requests from other departments.
  • Reconcile invoices and payroll on a weekly basis.
  • Support internal departments and field staff regarding payroll, benefits and pension questions.
  • Ensure company policies and government requirements are being followed as they relate to payroll.
  • Manage company-wide vacation policy.
  • Maintain confidentiality of personnel files and payroll information.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ year Canadian payroll experience.
  • Experience with payroll systems; Payworks preferred.
  • Certified Payroll compliance Practitioner (PCP) is an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of provincial employment standards and legislation.
  • Experience with benefits and pension administration.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft office (Word, Outlook, excel).
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Acute attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service delivery focus.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • $45,000 - 55,000 / year (depending on experience)
  • 100% onsite
  • Paid Benefits after 90 days (individual and family) – extended medical, out-of-country coverage, dental etc.
  • Pension eligibility, with employer match, after 1 full year of work
