We are currently recruiting for an experienced Manufacturing/Process & Launch Engineer to support automation, robotics and production equipment within a high-volume automotive manufacturing client.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced manufacturing/process engineering professional who enjoys working directly with production, engineering, skilled trades and equipment suppliers to bring processes from launch through successful production
NOTE:
- 6-month contract that may be extended
- Ability to work all three shifts is required
- Ability work overtime including weekends and holidays when required
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the launch and production readiness of machining processes
- Develop and execute process capability plans to ensure equipment and processes meet required targets
- Analyze capability and production data and identify opportunities for improvement
- Lead and support production trials, run-at-rate activities and launch events
- Work directly with production teams to identify and resolve process issues
- Coordinate resources with salaried and hourly manufacturing personnel to keep launch activities on schedule
- Partner with Product Engineering to resolve product and process challenges
- Work with machine builders and equipment suppliers to resolve installation, commissioning and machine tryout (MTO) issues
- Support skilled trades with equipment and station readiness activities
- Review engineering drawings, process documentation and quality requirements
- Develop, update and maintain process and launch documentation
- Prepare technical reports and communicate status, issues and recommendations to management
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure required launch deliverables are completed
- Identify risks, remove roadblocks and drive open issues to resolution
- Ensure required launch documentation is accurately completed and uploaded into DCP
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline; equivalent experience will also be considered
- 3+ years of automotive manufacturing, machining, powertrain or launch experience preferred
- Experience with cylinder heads, engine components, powertrain or CNC machining is highly preferred
- Experience supporting new product, equipment or manufacturing process launches
- Strong understanding of process capability, data analysis and continuous improvement
- Experience working with machine builders, equipment suppliers or skilled trades
- Ability to troubleshoot production and equipment issues and develop practical solutions
- Comfortable working with engineering drawings, process documentation and quality requirements
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with production, engineering, management, skilled trades and unionized teams
- Ability to work independently while coordinating multiple launch activities and deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with manufacturing/quality systems is an asset
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- $35.00–$40.00/hour (depending on experience)
- Paid benefits after 90 days, including extended medical, dental and out-of-country coverage
- Pension eligibility with employer matching after one full year
