We are recruiting an experienced Display Design Release Engineer to join our team to support our client in the automotive industry.
NOTE:
- Onsite 100% in Auburn Hills, MI
- Valid driver's license is required as well as a clean driving record
- Domestic and international travel required to support supplier visits, testing, and program reviews
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- End to end mechanical, electrical, and software integration of in vehicle display systems
- Ownership of display module design, packaging, optical performance, interface requirements, and supplier technical leadership
- Ensures that display components meet all functional, regulatory, and quality requirements while delivering a world class user experience
- Lead Display Development — Own the design, development, and release of all assigned display modules (center stack, passenger display, rear-seat displays, etc.).
- Drive Cross Functional Integration — Collaborate with HMI, electrical architecture, mechanical packaging, thermal, optical, and UX teams to ensure all interface and packaging requirements are met
- Supplier Technical Leadership — Lead daily technical discussions with display suppliers, ensuring alignment on design, timing, and quality targets
- Root Cause & Issue Resolution — Support debugging activities for display hardware, software, optical issues, and vehicle level integration concerns
- Release Management — Manage all release activities including software drops, change management, compliance documentation, and engineering sign offs
- Program Execution — Ensure all display related program milestones are achieved on time
- Validation & Testing — Perform bench level and vehicle level testing for display modules, including optical evaluations, touch performance, thermal behavior, and communication integrity
- Network & Diagnostics — Support diagnostics, communication protocol validation, and network alignment with system architecture teams
- Compliance & Regulatory — Support compliance testing, environmental validation, and regulatory certification for display systems
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
- Minimum of 3-4 years of relevant experience
- Entry-level/new graduates will not be considered
- DRE experience or similar product development ownership experience
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide supplier engineering teams
- Ability to communicate complex technical issues to cross functional teams and management
- Experience managing multiple complex technical topics simultaneously
- Working knowledge of DFMEA and DVP&R methodologies
- High level analytical and problem solving skills
- Experience with complex hardware/software systems, preferably involving display modules or electronic ECUs
- Experience with automotive communication protocols such as Ethernet, LIN, CAN/CAN FD
- Experience with automotive video protocols such as LVDS, GSML, etc.
- Proficiency with VECTOR tools & CANoe for network analysis and debugging.
- Strong cross functional coordination, deep technical problem solving, and hands on validation of hardware and software
PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Experience managing suppliers or engineering teams
- Display module or ECU development experience, including optical or touchscreen technologies
- Mechanical design and packaging experience for electronic modules
- Familiarity with automotive display regulatory requirements, optical standards, and environmental validation
- Understanding of automotive ECU development processes
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- $40.00 - $45.00 / hour (depending on experience)
