Job Description

Our client, a leading Tier 1 manufacturing supplier is looking for an Assistant Controller / Plant Accountant to join the senior team at their facility in Windsor. This role supports finance and operational activities at their manufacturing facility in Windsor, Ontario. The position is responsible for analyzing and reporting all aspects of the plant financial statements and month-end close in a manufacturing environment.

NOTE:

  • Day shift
  • 100% onsite
  • Up to 20% travel to clients locations in Ontario

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Present plant financial results to Plant Management Team and Corporate Office; explaining the financial results through an understanding of plant production activities
  • Tracking production costs, analyzing material and labor variances, managing inventory controls, preparing standardized overhead rates and preparing financial reports as required (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually)
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and review results against budgets with the ability to explain variances to both financial and non-financial team members
  • Approving purchase requisitions within company authority guidelines
  • Supporting new business quoting activities through costing and profitability analysis
  • Managing fixed asset accounting, reconciliations, asset additions/disposals, and shop-floor asset tracking
  • Supporting plant continuous improvement projects, audits, and other ad hoc financial initiatives

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. CPA designation preferred
  • 5–10 years of finance experience, including at least 3 years in manufacturing (automotive manufacturing preferred)
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills; most possess the ability to present to, and work with cross functional teams
  • Advanced Excel and experience with financial systems such as T4M and IFW (or other ERP equivalent systems)
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment
  • Professional and a collaborative, solution‑focused mindset

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • $70,000 - $90,000 / year depending on experience
