Job Description

Our client, an automotive tier one supplier requires a PLC / Manufacturing Engineering Technician to join their team. This position could lead to a full time direct position based on the candidates skill set and work ethic. Position reports directly to Plant Manager.

NOTE:

  • Afternoon Shift

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with manufacturing to maximize production and quality through continuous improvement of existing manufacturing processes and development of new process for new product launches
  • Designing specialized jigs and fixtures
  • Support product development through development of engineering design, analysis, and tests
  • Work with manufacturing on machine set-up and programing to maximize production and quality on initial product runs
  • Problem-solve with an experienced team (mechanical and controls engineering and skilled trades manufacturing), throughout the entire programming, tryout, and installation phases
  • Analyze challenges involving machine design, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics and heat transfer
  • Apply design standards (i.e. ASHRAE and ASM International) by using design software such as AutoCAD and RSlogix5000
  • Lead training of PLC end-users at customer locations and represent utilizing results-driven problem-solving skills
  • Focus on IATF standards; conduct internal IATF audits
  • Work with quality department to verify quality of finished product before shipment

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technician Certificate or Mechanical Engineering Technician Diploma. Certified Engineering Technologist designation an asset
  • Minimum of Three (3) years of experience in PLC programming/editing/troubleshooting with Allen Bradley RS Logix 5000 in a automotive manufacturing required; JIT experience an asset
  • Experience with Fanuc robotics
  • Atlas Copco PF 6000 torque controller experience
  • Time study experience
  • JIT Production environment experience
  • Production cell layout experience
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoCAD and MasterCAM
  • Team player with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • A proven ability to work well within a team-based work environment, prioritizing plans of action to accomplish objectives
  • Problem solving skills with the ability to adapt and drive continuous improvement
  • Project Management Experience
  • Knowledge of control of non-conforming product and tagging procedures
  • Experience working to plant KPIs
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
  • $70,000 - $90,000 / year depending on experience, Overtime eligible after 40 hours / week and potential for bonus
