Job Description

We are recruiting an experienced KBE Engineer- BIW to join our team to support our client in the automotive industry.

NOTE:

  • Hybrid with likelihood of being Onsite 100% in Windsor, Ontario
  • Must be willing and able to travel to the USA, without restrictions, effective on the start date
  • Valid driver's license is required as well as a clean driving record

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own and manage the design, development and release of BIW upper body components/ subassemblies.
  • Focus on machine/metal design engineering and body structures
  • Extensive knowledge of Catia/NX modeling and an extensive background developing / packaging / synthesizing complex vehicle system
  • Utilize/Update parameters and standards of specific to upper body shells and closures: doors, hoods, fenders, liftgates and overall upper body system.
  • Work with external suppliers and internal stamping plants and vehicle plant body shop to ensure manufacturability, cost and material performance
  • Develop and manage CBOM and quadris for subassemblies
  • Create source package technical documentation and manage technical reviews with the suppliers and internal team
  • Define and track engineering validation plans (DVP&R, DFMEA, PFMEA) and coordinate physical testing
  • Provide onsite plant launch support to triage, root cause and establish corrective actions to address assembly, build variation, BSR or any
  • Ensure designs comply with internal standards, vehicle performance targets and regulatory requirements
  • Communicate project status, risks and deliverables to stakeholders across engineering, manufacturing, purchasing and quality teams
  • Creating CAD (Catia/NX) parametric math models for commodities using Knowledge Based Engineering template modeling techniques
  • Dictating architecture and construction techniques
  • Creating master development / packaging / requirement sections
  • Defining master template modeling structures
  • Training other Catia/NX engineers on modeling techniques, architecture
  • Focuses on machine/metal design engineering and body structures
  • Understanding of Design to Manufacturing Best practices and guidelines
  • Competitive benchmarking studies
  • Create and maintain KBE design and analysis templates / requirements as standards change
  • Associative parametric modeling
  • CAD modeling and NX design templates automation capability

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of science degree in engineering from an accredited University. (Mechanical, Automotive or related field)
  • 5 yrs of experience in automotive sheet metal development or related areas.
  • Proficient in CAD Software (Teamcenter, NX, Vis Pro) and PLM systems
  • Strong knowledge of metal forming and joining techniques
  • Familiarity with GD&T, DFMEA, DVP&R, tolerance stack ups and typical automotive validation testing
  • KBE engineers work on upper body shells and closures: doors, hoods, fenders, liftgates and overall upper body system.
  • Focus on machine/metal design engineering and body structures
  • 5 yrs of CAD modeling, Robust Modeling, Parametric CAD Modeling with Siemens NX
  • 5 yrs of NX Product Template Studio and templates creation experience for process automation
  • 5 yrs of hands-on experience and understanding of automotive upper body shells and closures: doors, hoods, fenders, liftgates and overall upper body system.
  • Ability to understand and react to Multidisciplinary engineering fields
  • Strong English Speaking/Writing skills
  • Strong Engineering Design project presentation skills required

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • $41.00/hour - $45.00/hour (depending on experience)
  • Paid Benefits after 90 days (individual and family) – extended medical, out-of-country coverage, dental etc.
  • Pension eligibility, with employer match, after 1 full year of work (open enrollment every October)
