Job Description

We are recruiting an experienced Concept Studies Design Engineer (Battery) to join our team to support our client in the automotive industry.

NOTE:

  • Hybrid
  • Must be willing and able to travel to the USA, without restrictions, effective on the start date

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Early-phase vehicle programs covering platform/skateboard systems (chassis)
  • Concept / lead layout for first 6–8 months of programs before handing off to production design teams
  • Chassis systems (suspension, exhaust, mounts, cradles, underbody components) and related component design
  • Defines chassis architecture and layout an is responsible for the initial vehicle layout and system placements (wheelbase, suspension locations, etc.)
  • Define and integrate systems that make the vehicle function (wheels, powertrain, cooling, fuel, exhaust, suspension, mounts, etc.). For BEVs this includes electric motors, battery packaging, high-voltage components and wiring
  • Hand off program to downstream design teams with in approximately 6-8 months
  • Conduct Architecture Feasibility (Quick Loop) Studies
  • System Level Design Development of New Vehicle Concepts Propulsion and Chassis Packaging Proposals & Investigations
  • Feasibility Assessments of New Platforms(architectures), Technologies and Components
  • Support of the Development Process for New Platform Variants Establish Platform Layout
  • CAD Geometry of the Concept Position requiring interface with suppliers and internal cross functional areas

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors in mechanical engineering
  • 2-3 years of experience using CAD to design and manipulate geometry, preferably NX (will train)
  • Experience with powertrain integration, battery/EV integration (battery packaging, HV components, motors), and chassis systems (suspension, exhaust, mounts)
  • Ability to design and configure Battery cases and cooling systems is valuable.
  • Comfortable in a high-speed and demanding

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • $36.00 - $40.00/hour (depending on experience)
  • Paid Benefits after 90 days (individual and family) – extended medical, out-of-country coverage, dental etc.
  • Pension eligibility, with employer match, after 1 full year of work (open enrollment every October)
