We are recruiting an experienced Quality-Design Convergence (DCL) Engineer to join our team to support our client in the automotive industry.
NOTE:
- Remote
- 1 year contract
- Valid driver's license is required as well as a clean driving record
- Must be willing and able to travel to the USA, without restrictions, effective on the start date
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Development and implementation of interior and exterior vehicle build requirements from concept phase through tooling kickoff
- Lead cross functional team with the product design office, metafunction engineering, quality, and external suppliers to define and converge gap and flush engineering requirements
- Understand and apply the requirements of the Customer Audit
- Analyze CAD data and tolerance stackup results to ensure correct application of perceived quality design rules
- Manage project deliverables and KPIs
- Ensure appropriate escalation of issues
- Ensuring all project quality targets are met, managing launch timelines & deliverables and insure the transition to quality volume production
- Validate product and process design and assembly at the geometric level of the scope entrusted (Quality Assurance Fixtures management)
- Participates in the development of the geometric monitoring plan at Assembly line
- Responsible for converging geometric quality in the industrialization phase prior to volume production
- Reports component and assembly quality issues, participating in activities to resolve issues between design, part conformity and manufacturing
- Conducts the analyses, identifies quality optimization solutions, defines pilot for each issue and facilitates communication to insure conformity to BCI KPIs
- Applicant must be capable of reading part dimensional data and solving interior fit and finish issues
- Leads coordination activity with other company organization such as HMI, Corp Quality, SQ & Perceived Quality as it relates to Interior Execution.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- 1-5 years’ experience in automotive areas of Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality and/or Product Quality
- Must Understand Plastic Trim Parts
- GD&T knowledge and skills, tolerance stack ups and product inspection experience
- Knowledge of APQP/PPAP & Supplier Quality Manual
- Statistical data analysis and metrology principles, Root Cause Analysis methods.
- Knowledge of defect resolution, escalation processes and follow up
- Knowledge of metrology principles and understanding of Statistical analysis and process control
- Understanding of vehicle design, assembly, and process control
- Understanding of tooling and in plant processes
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communications skills with the ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Ability to develop an action plan and drive the procedures for issue resolution
- Self-motivated. Able to meet deadlines with the ability to work with cross-functional teams
- High-level presentations utilizing Excel, PowerPoint
- Analytical and communications skills, ability to develop an action plan and drive the procedures for issue resolution
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- $34.00 - $38.00/hour (depending on experience)
- Paid Benefits after 90 days (individual and family) – extended medical, out-of-country coverage, dental etc.
- Pension eligibility, with employer match, after 1 full year of work (open enrollment every October)
