We are currently recruiting an experienced Operations Manager to join our team supporting our client in the automotive industry.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reporting to the Plant Manager you will provide leadership for all production personnel on all shifts; monitor the progress of all manufacturing departments to ensure quality, safety and volume targets are met
- Ensuring the operating team's goals are aligned with, and representative of the overall plant’s directive
- Act as liaison between team members and the rest of the organization (Maintenance, Quality, Logistics, Human Resources, and other operational leaders)
- Utilize World Class Manufacturing, 5S and Lean principles to drive quality, safety, productivity and reduce waste
- Delegate, Direct, Guide, and Coach Production Supervisors within various departments; developing a productive team through effective leadership
- Participate in the review and recommendation of capital improvement expenditures as they relate to operations
- Report quality non-conformance in a timely manner and ensure corrective action is taken, work closely with Quality to develop corrective action requests for customers
- Ensure production personnel conduct work in a safe manner, where applicable safety equipment, follow policies/procedures and take corrective action or timely discipline where necessary
- Ensure HR Policies are followed and Collective Agreement Procedures are followed while fostering positive labour relations between all levels of operations and with employees of other departments
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Effective leader with above-average management and supervisory skills
- Experience in automotive manufacturing procedures and policies
- Working knowledge of World Class Manufacturing principles and 5S, Lean principles and IATF 16949 standards.
- University Degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, or related area
- Minimum of seven (7) years manufacturing experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in manufacturing
- Experience in a unionized environment
- A detailed understanding of budgeting, efficiencies, uptime, yield, problem-solving techniques, motivational techniques, and long-range planning
- An overall process knowledge of the manufacturing process
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. possess a good work attitude, excellent personal time management and organizational skills, and
- Must be able to independently organize shop floor to meet defined schedules with products meeting company quality standards, in a safe work environment
COMPENSATION:
- $110,000 - $140,000 / year (depending on experience) + bonus and benefits
