Our client, a leading Tier 1 manufacturing supplier is looking for an Health & Safety / E2 Specialist to join their team. If you have a passion for Health & Safety coupled with the ability to manage Environmental and Energy programs this is the position for you!
NOTE:
- Role based in Guelph, ON (Preferred) with flexibility for Port Hope, ON
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain a comprehensive health and safety program, policies and procedures that align with regulatory standards; coordinate the implementation and ongoing maintenance of ISO 45001
- Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards
- Investigate workplace incidents, near misses and accidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions and risk mitigation strategies to reduce exposure to hazards
- Perform regular Health and Safety, Environmental and Energy audits and analyze performance metrics, prepare reports and present findings to managers and make recommendations to improve performance
- Issue monthly safety talks and lead industrial hygiene assessments and sampling; conduct routine job assessments relating to Health and Safety (including ergonomics); Environmental and Energy
- Support training initiatives (may include creating materials and delivery of training) relating to Health and Safety, Environmental and Energy initiatives
- Contribute to the achievement of world class status and corporate savings by minimizing electricity use, environmental impacts and occupational injuries and illnesses
- Implement and administer standardized Health & Safety, Environmental and Energy processes to ensure compliance to Federal, Provincial and Local regulations as well as Corporate Policies and Procedures
- Focus on implementing ISO 50001 and 14001 with the support of corporate specialists and plant staff
- Coordinate all regulatory issues and communication with the EHS Manager
- Participate in new and modified equipment programs from the concept stage through delivery to ensure that Health and Safety, Environmental and Energy design specifications and regulations are included (PHSR, SMI-105 etc.)
- Chair JHSC committee
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Safety, Engineering, Science or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of Health & Safety, Environmental, Engineering or related experience in a manufacturing/automotive environment
- Strong understanding of Federal, State, Provincial and Local regulations and requirements
- Willingness to work on any shift and additional hours as required
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite and/or other software
COMPESNATION & BENEFITS:- $60,000 - $80,000 / year depending on experience
