Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Controls Engineer to join our team!

NOTE:

  • 1 year contract

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Use Factory Information Systems (FIS) plant monitoring software to review times of automation, review and follow up automation projects and installations
  • Troubleshoot PLC, robot, and other automation problems
  • Update program backups for automation
  • Program new installations of machining, gantry and conveyor systems
  • Reprogram automation for engineering changes and improvements
  • Co-ordinate automation campaigns

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College Technology Diploma
  • Ability to read blueprints, AutoCAD, interpret and modify electrical schematics
  • Familiarity with robotics
  • Familiarity with VFD’s (Variable Frequency Drives), encoders, network/Ethernet controls, Profinet

PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Applied Science
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot all body equipment and continuously evaluate equipment for improvement for quality and delivery
  • Substantial understanding of conveyors system programming and gantry systems, in addition to networking understanding, Ethernet, Profibus, Profinet
  • Proven problem-solving skills, including 8Ds, FMEAs, DMAICs, TIA Portal, Step 7, Rexroth, Schneider Unity, 840D
  • Experienced in laser burning
  • Understanding of Cognex vision systems
  • Simulation modeling exposure
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience
  • Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping
  • DMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) Project Methodology experience
  • TQM and Kaizen Methods
  • Visual Factory Management

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • $35.00 - $40.00 / hour (depending on experience)
  • Paid Benefits after 90 days (individual and family) – extended medical, out-of-country coverage, dental etc.
  • Pension eligibility, with employer match, after 1 full year of work (open enrollment every October)
