Job Description

On behalf of our civil infrastructure and operation client, we are currently recruiting for an Intelligent Transportation Systems Coordinator.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for coordinating with Owner’s Engineer (OE) and Project Co to ensure ITS and tolling design, implementation, commissioning and operations focuses on safety, efficiency, and sustainability of transportation networks with the goal to avoid traffic congestion and to enhance drivers’ experiences
  • Coordinate with Project Co and OE on the design and implementation work associated with the Tolling and ITS systems for compliance with the Project Agreement
  • Oversight and assistance in the development and implementation of tolling policies and business rules, operational procedures for the tolling and ITS systems
  • Oversee ITS and Tolling Systems critical design, construction, testing and commissioning throughout construction
  • Compliance oversight on project design and delivery by liaising with Project Co, appropriate third-party vendors, stakeholders and internal team with respect to ITS/Toll design, construction, quality control, operations and maintenance
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Owners Engineer, stakeholders (MTO and MDOT) and Project Co to incorporate changeable message signing, security cameras, traffic control, traveller information, bridge instrumentation and bridge management systems into the ITS
  • Assessment of new technologies, adoption and migration when appropriate which may include research on the financial and technical impact of several design scenarios

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • University degree in Information Technology, Electrical Engineering or Traffic Engineering preferred;
  • Diploma in Information Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Traffic Technician with relevant work experience
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience
  • Experience with systems integration, cameras, traffic signals, hardware, wiring, fibre optics
  • Experience with changeable message signing, security cameras, traffic control, traveler information, bridge instrumentation, road weather information systems and bridge management systems an asset
  • Experience with building management systems, access control, SCADA an asset
  • Previous experience on construction projects an asset
  • Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) or Michigan Department of Transportation ( MDOT) experience an asset
  • Ability to manage multiple issues concurrently
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Possesses strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong initiative and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and professionally communicate orally, graphically and in writing
  • Well rounded knowledge of relationship management
  • Intermediate MS Office skills
  • Electronic control skills
  • Knowledge of and ability to integrate: cameras, traffic signals, hardware, wiring, and fibre optics
  • Ability to travel within Canada and Michigan
  • There will be the need for visits to the work site
