Job Description

On behalf of our World Class Manufacturing client we are recruiting for a Computational Fluid Dynamics Engineer.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performing simulations for aero/thermal development, supporting cooling, thermal protection and climate control development
  • Work closely with Thermal Integration engineers, Engine Systems, HVAC/Interior, Body engineering as well as Advanced Design Engineering and Styling Studio to communicate simulation results and recommendations
  • Use several simulation software tools such as STAR-CCM+, CFD-ACE, ANSA and TAITherm to perform required simulations
  • Perform vehicle level Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations to support Aero/Thermal Development and assessment including powertrain cooling, HVAC cooling, air induction and thermal protection
  • Perform CFD simulations focused on automotive paint processes, primarily electrodeposition coating (eCoat) simulations
  • Work on future vehicle programs with a focus on process efficiency and innovation
  • Pro-actively develop and carry out CFD simulations for new programs based on vehicle content and functional objectives
  • Work closely with aero/thermal integration engineers, release groups and design studios to communicate simulation results and implement design improvements
  • Prepare high quality presentations to communicate simulation results and design recommendations to various groups
  • Ensure CFD model validity and correlation on a continuous basis
  • Make design changes to demonstrate benefits and perform multiple 'what if' studies to guide the design process
  • Fully engage in vehicle development activity and proactively take ownership of simulation activity to best guide the design team
  • Participate in vehicle testing activities to enhance correlation between physical testing and virtual simulations
  • Work with off shore teams as needed to execute projects
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Requirement: Masters Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with a commercial CFD software package. Experience using CFD in an industrial setting. Experience with Star-CCM, CFD-ACE suite, ANSA, and Taitherm is a significant asset
  • Strong focus in CFD methods, fluid dynamics and heat transfer
  • Solid understanding of fluid flow and heat transfer
  • Knowledgeable about various vehicle systems and subsystems, especially cooling, HVAC & Powertrain systems
  • Exposure to thermal testing and validation is an added plus
  • Experience with JAVA and Matlab programming is an asset
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Must be able to travel to USA
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
