  • Coordination of all activities associated with advanced research and development focus projects as determined by the Manager of Advanced Development and Engineering
  • Supporting and monitoring new technological advancements with support from the Manager Advanced Development & Engineering and well as multi-disciplinary roles
  • Developing and managing regularly scheduled status “report” meetings which indicate both the plan/milestones for implementations as well as comparison to plan
  • Supporting and working with the required disciplines within the organization that the new technological advancement would affect to ensure manufacturability
  • Supporting developments in new industry trends; product lines, materials, technologies, etc.
  • Designing experiments and test related activities to qualify new technologies
  • Developing budgets with respect to the focus projects and monitor cost associated
  • Being knowledgeable of primary disciplines i.e. Product design, tooling, molding, painting, plating, assembly
  • Gathering and compiling the SR&ED submission information that pertains to each focus project
  • Scheduling and coordinating all tryout requests, and ensuring proper materials, personnel, other requirements are on hand for successful trial on/off site locations
  • Scheduling customer/ supplier visits and responding to customer/supplier requests appropriately to maintain an excellent partnership between all parties involved in technology development
  • Composing technical documentation, detailed meeting minutes
  • Composing advanced customer presentations illustrating technological advancements with associated demonstration/display equipment to further effective communication techniques
  • Reviewing and evaluating new technologies as to their potential (short term and long term) to advance as the supplier of choice
  • Evaluating technologies as to their full impact on processes if implemented
  • Return on investments and return on assets analysis
  • Must possess a post-secondary school degree/diploma or equivalent, with preference given to those with an Engineering degree/certificate
  • 3 to 5 years in R&D and/or R&D related activities. Ex: New technological advancement
  • Preference given to candidates with experience in design, tooling, plastics/coating industries
  • Ability to perform well in high pressure situations
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal formats
  • Excellent record keeping skills
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Power Point/Excel
  • Good analytical skills
  • Able to think “outside of the box” while still maintaining basis in reality
  • Strong technical skills with the ability to learn quickly
  • Good hands on skills and mechanical aptitude
