Job Description

On behalf of our non - automotive manufacturing client we are recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join their team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Direct supervision of up to 18 skilled trades including; Electricians, Pipe-Fitters, Carpenter, Fire Protection & Mechanics
  • Track and inspect Trades work for completeness, keeping records of all work performed via the CMMS work order system
  • Oversee emergency breakdown repairs with the maintenance team to ensure repairs are completed in a timely manner
  • Ensure preventative maintenance program is followed and all work is tracked. Aid in process improvement through technical support
  • Lead direct reports to meet or exceed cost savings initiative objectives
  • Financial responsibility for M&R and Labour Budgets
  • Establish a plan to shape a high performance team; manages the development of the department's resources through training and coaching opportunities
  • Professionally manages the relationship with union members and trades
  • External, regular work related contact with outside vendors for materials and services
  • Ensures compliance to all the environmental quality and safety standards related to the department; Supports continuous improvement and root cause analysis processes
  • Support HACCP, GMP and technical audit requirements
  • Facilitate open and effective communications with other departments, ensuring optimal quality standards
  • OHSA - Ensure compliance of Occupational Health & Safety Act (section 25, 26, 27, and 28) per Company Policy- Management-Supervision-Worker Safety Responsibilities
  • Maintain zero non-conformance certification for ISO 9002
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5 years of proven experience in a unionized manufacturing environment as a Maintenance Supervisor (preference given to candidates with HACCP or GMP experience) College Diploma, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (preference given to candidates with a Mechanical or Electrical Degree)
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment
  • Solid ability to have big picture thinking and step change innovation
  • High Competency in: the ability to make things happen, customer focus, team building, influencing and partnering
  • Understanding collective agreements
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations
