Job Description

Our Tier 1, injection molding/automotive client is in search of a Manufacturing Engineer / Control Specialist to join their team. The primary focus of the role is to work with the Production, Maintenance and Product Engineering to maintain and optimize existing processes and to develop processes for new programs as well as coordinates the procurement of new equipment. Monitor and maintain PLC’s and PLC interfaces from various manufactures.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Comply with TS/ISO/N5 Procedures and adhere to all Environmental , H&S policies and procedures and applicable legislative requirements
  • Responsible for analyzing production standards and recommending process improvements in order to improve efficiencies, cycle times and reduce costs and scrap. Especially improve the programs of assembly lines
  • Training (Operation and Maintenance) - Coordinate the training of equipment operators and maintenance personal
  • Responsible to ensures scrap and process capability targets are met
  • Troubleshooting and assistance or guiding of maintenance personnel
  • Manufacturing Process Definition - Create process flow diagrams, equipment investment plans, equipment layouts and resource consumption plans
  • Manufacturing Process Development - Develop and validate manufacturing processes and create PFMEAs with the support of a multi-functional team
  • Production Equipment Specification - Prepare equipment specification packages (ESP)
  • Production Infrastructure Review - Keep the plant specification and standards up to date, as well as the plant E-Card and the plant utility map
  • Production Equipment Procurement and Installation - Create production equipment investment requests (IA) and order requests (SRM-orders), analyze quotations and coordinate the selection of suppliers, monitor the manufacturing and installation of production equipment with suppliers and evaluate those suppliers on the basis of their performance. These activities apply to brand new equipment as well as to relocated used equipment
  • Equipment Acceptance - Coordinate equipment acceptances with suppliers from the design phase (DAT), to the preliminary acceptance (PAT), to the readiness to operate acceptance (RTO), to the final acceptance (FAT), up until the final availability verification (EAV). It includes the conduction of machine capability studies, production trials and tracking of external (supplier) and internal tasks
  • Equipment Operation Instructions - Create production equipment operation instructions, setup instructions and process parameter sheets
  • Manufacturing Process Acceptance - Conduct the internal acceptance of manufacturing processes
  • Handover to Production - Handover production equipment and process to the Manufacturing and Maintenance Areas

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Mechanical/Electrical Engineer/Technologist
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the job
  • Process and production orientation
  • Knowledge of FMEA, CAD
  • Process development for concept designs
  • Problem solving skills
  • Very good knowledge of PLC programming and trouble shooting (Allan Bradley and Siemens)
  • Knowledge in 6-axis-robot programming
  • Knowledge of vision systems
  • Industrial engineering experiences an asset
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Travel activity
  • Periodic overtime required, readiness to work on weekend if required
  • May be required to provide technical support on a 24-hour basis
