Job Description

Our behalf of our Tier 1, injection molding/automotive client we are recruiting for an experienced Quality Engineer to join their team. The primary focus of the role is to act as primary liaison for management to resolve customer and supplier quality related product and system failures. This position reports directly to the Quality Assurance Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Management and coordination of quality assurance on Business Unit level in plant
  • Liaison with designated corporate/suppliers regarding quality issues/concerns including related investigation, tracking, reporting/responding until resolution using customer approved formats/methods
  • Order Norms for components for all quality/engineering requirements and Engineering materials to be issued to Purchasing for approval and distribution through document control. Ensure suppliers understand requirements.
  • PPAP tracking/submission of components for approval and to customers for corporate product approval
  • Participation in Advanced Quality Planning including the development and/or Improvement of quality plans (control plans), support for Manufacturing Engineering on PFMEA’s and ensuring corporate approvals are achieved as required
  • Participation and support of quality system surveys/supplier visits as required, and/or as requested by Purchasing
  • Problem resolution and reporting of product issues and concerns; requalification of products
  • Definition of quality improvement programs and monitoring of product quality and reject rate (error analysis, Continual Improvement Process, tracking of corrections and improvement measures)
  • Maintains customer concerns log, inspection procedures, and auditing; processing of customer portals and customer documentation, and travel to customers and suppliers to respond to quality issues
  • Lead customer audits and Claim Management for the Business Unit
  • Preparation of key figures for BU Head of Production Quality
  • Ensure all TS/ISO/N5 systems and corporate procedures are adhered to
  • Authorization to act as QA Manager in procedure TS Process Deviation
  • Plant specific topics will be specified by General Manager and other duties as assigned by the Q.A. Manager Disciplinary and functional management of directly subordinated employees
  • Occasional travel required - International & USA

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in progressive Quality Assurance experience in injection molding/automotive
  • Familiar with major OEM and TS/ISO requirements
  • CMM programming and related training is preferred
  • Basic blue print reading skills with GD&T skills an asset
  • Able to generate clear and concise reports/presentations/data summaries using personal computer software
  • Strong mathematical, analytical and problem solving skills

  • Must be organized, decisive, and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to handle stressful environment
  • Good interpersonal skills
