Job Description

On behalf of our tier 1 automotive/injection molding client we are recruiting for an experienced Project Engineer to join their team.


• Understand product / system designs & transfer knowledge to the Plant
• Customer / supplier technical liaison
• Interface with Program Sales Manager Lead, Account Manager, Program Manager
• Assist prototype builds / product submissions
• Reduce costs / optimize product designs
• Develop Customer documentation - as required
• Coordinate design reviews
• Analyze design proposals
• Lead APQP Teams
• Travel (to customer, test facilities & local )
• Monitor and adhere to CAD/PRINT Data Control Procedure
• Prepare/review/update BOM, & review DFMEA,PFMEA and Control plans
• Participate in cost estimating process
• Assist QA through product development
• Capital and labour costing on improvements and new projects
• Preparations of functional specifications, assist in solicitation of quotations, and selection of equipment suppliers
• Coordinate initial production runs and prototype builds with team
• Adhere to all TS/ISO/N5 procedures and company policies
• Program Management of local programs in the plant during industrialization and mass production
• Motivate and lead the existing project team
• Regular reporting on project status to General Manager and Program/Sales Manager – PMP lead
• Professional communication within the project team
• Customer interface to STA/SQE (customer supplier quantity engineer)
• All communication to the customer has to be coordinated with Program Manager Sales
• Act as the key interface in the manufacturing plant and towards other internal departments
• Change Management: Remain responsible for program during change management process (incl. production relocation)
• Manage the Industrialization of approved changes
• Evaluate change requests regarding feasibility, costs and timeline
• Control and report real cost versus budget for tool, machine and piece price and purchased parts to General Manager and entire project team
• Lead PPAP readiness and project closure meetings
• Project review meetings with customers in case of reporting about project status from plant requested by Program Manager Sales or customer
• Customer audit planning and realization in the plant
• Conduct lessons learned as part of the continuous improvement activities together with Program Manager Sales
• Control and report APQP status to General Manager and entire program team from production kick-off meeting
• Customer audit planning and realization in the plant
• Build and manage program timeline from Production Kick-off Meeting until SOP (Production Kick-off SOP) based on customer milestones and due dates and provide to Program Manager Sales for overall timeline
• Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to Business Unit Program Manager Plan according to requirements
• Obligation to escalate to Director Sales Global Account and General Manager


• Successfully completed Bachelor’s degree (technical degree preferred) with 3-5 years of professional experience in the area of responsibility (particularly within the automotive industry)
• 4 years with related product design
• Automotive parts experience in plastic or rubber
• Computer skills - proficient in PC software (MS Office, MS project, CADKEY)
• Excellent organizational skills

• Excellent learning abilities
• Excellent interpersonal team player skills
• Good presentation skills
• Unix / workstation / FEA - familiarity is an asset
• AIAG / APQP procedures - proficient
