Job Description

On behalf of our World Class Manufacturing client we are in search of an experienced Quality Engineer to join their team in Auburn Hills, MI.


  • Perform root cause analysis of quality issues, often using advanced problem-solving tools (like Kepner Tregoe, Shainin Red X, Design of Experiments)
  • Recommend and implement simple cost-effective permanent corrective actions
  • Analyze quality data from internal and external indicators to ensure correlation
  • Manage engineering changes, working with cross-functional team to ensure timely execution
  • Conduct product evaluation requests to ensure robustness of product or process change before full implementation
  • Work with Engineering and Suppliers to resolve issues that are not plant controllable
  • Recommend and validate rework procedures
  • Develop inspection procedures and best methods for performing inspection
  • Develop projects to support World Class Manufacturing
  • Manage the resolution of issues associated with current or future vehicle design, build, and testing
  • Represent the "Voice of the Customer" to the design and manufacturing teams
  • Drive a disciplined approach to the problem solving and root cause analysis
  • Develop targets for third party metrics (Consumer Reports, JD Power, etc.) and assess to ensure vehicles meet the defined targets
  • Management of the Quality test vehicle fleet (ordering, updating, issue disposition)
  • Provide support in preparing Industrial Head review packages associated with quality gates
  • Work closely with production unit leaders to stratify and eliminate quality issues on the plant floor
  • Coordinate product verification testing audits on pre-production vehicles to support production start approval
  • Drive and evaluate corporate and competitive products
  • Plan, prioritize, set goals and manage multiple projects in a technical and business environment
  • Present in and/or prepare presentation material for meetings involving all levels of the company


  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
  • 3-5 years Product (overall vehicle knowledge) / Quality experience, Prior application and use of problem solving tools and statistics
  • MS Office proficiency, including presentation skills - PM skills a plus
  • Self-motivated, results driven, able to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent critical thinking and leadership skills for this cross functional role, must be able to think on their feet
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Will be required to drive a company vehicle - valid drivers license and clean driving record required
  • May be required to travel - domestic (20%) interacting with Vehicle Assembly Plant and Supplier Test facilities
