Our client, an expanding global supplier of welding, trim, chassis, & final automotive assembly equipment, headquartered in Shelby Township, Michigan, is seeking a 4 experienced Controls Engineers to join their team. They have a global customer base including; OEM's, Tier One Suppliers in both the Automotive and Aerospace assembly plants. Enjoy travelling as a job requirement... this is your opportunity!


  • Responsibilities typically involve engineering a well-defined section of a larger project or acting as a project engineer on a small project
  • Control panel concept and design based on line up information from the Project Engineer. The Controls Engineer will take standards and formats given to him/her by the Project Engineer and incorporate them into a part of the project
  • Guarantee the workability, completeness and accuracy of all designs. Controls Engineers shall be able to properly design all aspects of a control panel. Complete designs include all aspects of a control panel from schematics to layouts and Bill of Materials
  • Coordinate with the Project Engineer regarding schedule, design concepts and other status information on areas of concern
  • Insure that designs are consistent with other designs on the project
  • Participate in internal and external design reviews of deliverables
  • Insure that all designs meet either customer standards
  • Fully document and maintain engineering records for incorporation into engineer’s job book
  • Write software on assigned areas. Controls Engineers shall have an understanding of ladder logic, MMI and C++ programming
  • Perform start up and stand by on assigned areas. Controls Engineers shall be able to operate and debug machinery
  • Provide engineering liaison to manufacturing and field service departments


  • Electrical Engineering Degree or 2 year Technical Degree
  • 10 years’ of automation controls experience
  • A background in controls Rockwell, Allen Bradley and Siemens (PC & PLC programming) is a requirement
  • C++ an asset
  • Knowledge and experience using AB RS Logix 5, RS Logix 5000, and Panelview development software
  • Strong root cause and troubleshooting experience is required
  • Able and willing to travel up to 70% of the time to perform installations at custom facilities around the globe
