Job Description

On behalf of our Tier 1 injection moulding client, we are currently recruiting an experienced Assistant Quality Assurance Manager to join their team. Reporting to the Plant Manager and indirectly to the Corporate Quality Manager, the Assistant Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for assuring that incoming and outgoing product quality meets the quality requirements as established between the company and its customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assuring, by means of inspection, testing and audits, that the processes and procedures are operating as specified by the Quality System and that corrective action is implemented for non-conformances
  • Ensure the smooth management of all QA direct reports and indirect reports and functions, ensuring the ongoing adherence to the policies and procedures outlined in the ISO9001:2015 AND IATF 16949 Quality System and encouraging continuous improvement wherever possible
  • Maintain required quality positions for all shifts, ensuring all personnel are properly trained, competent and fully knowledgeable of all the Company's health and safety rules and the ISO9001:2015 AND IATF 16949 Quality System policies and procedures
  • Manage and develop all QA personnel, assigning responsibilities and ensuring all policies and procedures of the ISO9001:2015 AND IATF 16949 Quality System are followed at all times. This includes, but is not limited to, handling employee concerns, reviewing performance, training, discipline, hiring and orientation of new employees, and building morale and strong team environment
  • Plan, co-ordinate, organize, manage and review your plant internal quality audits of the ISO9001:2015 AND IATF 16949 Quality System to ensure conformance to standards
  • Work with the Corporate Quality Manager to ensure all auditors are properly trained and capable of carrying out the audits
  • Complete and follow up all non-conformances found during audits for your plant to ensure corrective action has been taken
  • Ensure all testing and measuring equipment is maintained, verified and accurate as per the procedures outlined in the ISO9001:2015 AND IATF 16949 Quality System
  • Comply with all health, safety and environmental legislation and regulations, ensuring a safe work environment at all times through enforcement, promotion and improvement of the Company's health and safety practices
  • Prepare annual budget and monitor performance of Quality department, providing explanations for variances to budget
  • Analyze product defects and non-conformances and develop, implement and verify corrective actions
  • Review internal and external defect rates, work with cross-functional team to analyze trends, reviews customer concerns and returns, Waivers of Deviation
  • Promote quality awareness throughout the Company, emphasizing excellence, continuous improvement and corrective action
  • Make recommendations to the Plant Manager and Corporate Quality Manager on changes to procedures, purchases of new quality assurance equipment, or any plant/process/equipment improvements
  • Implement a Cost of Quality program to provide financial visibility of the cost of poor quality.
  • Working with QEs to ensure FMEA’s, PPAP's are performed and Control Plans prepared, or updated, for all new programs, colours or changes to existing programs or processes as outlined in the ISO9001:2015 AND IATF 16949 Quality System
  • Participate and lead in APQP process
  • Ensure a strong Safe Launch process is maintained for all launches, ECN's and PCN's to prevent defects from escaping and getting to the customer
  • Approve and disposition all returned non-conforming material from the customer (RMA's) in accordance with the procedures outlined in the ISO9001:2015 AND IATF 16949 Quality System. Advise production and accounting departments; maintain records
  • Manage the QA hold to ensure the product is dispositioned in a timely manner
  • Monitor Customer score cards and lead corrective actions to closure
  • Work with the Supplier Quality Engineer to monitor and track improvements to our supply base
  • Liaisons with customers/suppliers to ensure relationships are maintained and quality concerns are addressed in a timely fashion
  • Ensure all quality records are recorded, verified and maintained as outlined in the Quality System procedures
  • Prepare monthly updates for management on quality trends, defect sources and recommended corrective actions.
  • Available throughout the calendar week to analyze and address product quality and customer concerns.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University Degree preferred OR College Diploma OR equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5 years of Quality Engineering or Leadership experience in Automotive
  • Working knowledge of Class A surface products, APQP, FMEA, 8D and Control Plans
  • Ability to work collaboratively between various managers and departments
  • Preferred: Lead IATF Auditor Certificate, CQE, Green Belt/Black Belt
  • Hands-on leadership experience preferred
