Job Description

Our client, a designer/manufacturer and global integrator of welding and assembly systems and material handling systems, is in search of an experienced Estimator to join their team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Estimating

  • Attend bidder’s meetings locally or at customer locations
  • Line up other departments that will be part of the quoting process
  • Populate pricing spreadsheets
  • Obtain external quotes from vendor base, find new support sources
  • Prepare proposal documents and presentations
  • Communicate and identify proposal content with customer via conference or on-site meetings
  • Prepare job kick-off packages and meetings with relevant departments

Manufacturing Engineering

  • Update and document open issues relative to the manufacturing process
  • Ensure that all build check sheets are completed at each milestone of the program
  • Notify the team and management of any red status issues which may affect program execution and delivery
  • With the Project Manager, be the customer contact for matters that relate to manufacturing or work in progress
  • Assist with field checks, install requirements (kits / new tooling) and ordering of electrical/pneumatic material for jobs
  • Liaison between controls and manufacturing

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering Degree or Diploma; or a Business Degree with experience in Supply Chain; or equivalent education or experience
  • Adequate knowledge of the Automotive Machine/Tool Industry. The position is 65% estimating and 35% Manufacturing Engineering
  • Previous experience in Fabricating & Machining, Mechanical and/or Controls fields an asset
  • Strong expediting skills an asset
  • A proven proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) applications
  • A proven leadership ability
  • An ability to effectively prioritize and complete assignments in a high-pressure environment using effective organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication abilities in order to effectively communicate with all external suppliers and personnel within the organization
  • An ability to work well with others in a team environment
