Our client, a designer/manufacturer and global integrator of welding and assembly systems and material handling systems, is in search of a Senior Robotics Simulation Designer to join their Body in White division. We design, build, and integrate body-in-white welding and joining production systems for the automotive and commercial truck sectors. The flexible body shop automation systems and smart work cells help OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers bring their products to life while adapting to rapidly changing technology and consumer demands.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understand customer expectations along with project parameters, to communicate to the rest of the Simulation Team
- Lead, guide, and mentor junior and intermediate-level team members
- Conduct simulation reach studies, cycle time analysis, robot safety analysis/setup, and create build/installation deliverables using Siemens Process Simulate simulation software
- Provide the engineering department with tool locations on automation lines that contain all robotic applications
- Assist mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic personnel by using simulation software to debug robot functions during the assembly stages
- Establish simulation standards for new studies or modifications to the simulations and programs of existing equipment
- Provide other engineering departments with information necessary for applications that include robots and other dynamic equipment
- Review simulations with the customer and other departments
- Upload programs from robot controllers to simulation software for permanent storage and future reference
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- University degree in electrical/mechanical/industrial/mechatronics engineering, associate degree or college diploma in electrical/mechanical/mechatronics technology
- 5+ years’ experience in robotics engineering (Fanuc, ABB, Kawasaki etc.)
- Experience with Siemens Process Simulate simulation software (strongly preferred)
- Experience with Robcad and/or Delmia simulation software is a plus
- Design experience should include familiarity with automation, welding and joining lines, and robotics
- Exceptional organizational, management, and communication skills
- Working knowledge of programming software, Microsoft Office, and AutoCAD
- A proven ability to work well within a team-based work environment, prioritizing plans of action to accomplish objectives
