Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Weight Engineer to join our team supporting our client in the Automotive Industry.

  • Management and reporting of vehicle weights to ensure positioning within EPA test weight classes and regulatory planning activities necessary to assure compliance with governmental regulatory requirements
  • Drive weight optimization activity during the platform development
  • Develop functional targets, benchmarking competition, data analysis and reporting to achieve weight optimization
  • Populating Tables with predictive weight data used for test weight classification, fuel economy calculation, spring selection, verification of weight to overall vehicle ratings
  • Driving the right optimization decisions while providing accurate and timely assessments
  • Proactively work with Product Planning, Engineering and Materials
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent(Materials /Chemical/ Civil/ Aerospace/Computer) from an ABET-accredited university
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in manufacturing engineering environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Discrete Event Simulation is required.
  • Experience of existing Body Shop, Paint Shop and General Assembly is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiencies in the following software package and languages: AutoMod is required.
  • Must have basic AutoCAD skills, strong MS Office Suite, and basic programming skills in VBA
  • Witness or SIMUL8 skill is plus
  • Excellent problem solving & communications
  • Skills including written and oral required. Must be self-motivated, customer-driven team player, able to develop close customer relations to best understand requirements & meet tight deadlines
  • Remote with some travel to the US for meetings
