Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Materials Engineer to join our team supporting our client in the Automotive Industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Completion of corrosion vehicle teardowns and e-coat vehicle dissections
  • Instruct a team of technicians in the teardown or dissection process documenting issues and concerns during the entire procedure. The documentation will include extensive film thickness readings and other measurements as required
  • Reporting and communicating proper information to affected product engineer will be an important aspect of this position
  • Work with external suppliers to lead the dissections of various components, track budgets and help generate purchase orders
  • Work with management and University of Windsor in interviewing, hiring and training co-op students
  • Coordination and shipping of corrosion specimens and samples to various product engineers and suppliers
  • Working collaboratively with the mechanic supervisor, union, management, maintenance and facilities teams
  • Good communication and leadership skills are required to coordinate and instruct bargaining unit mechanics in performing specimen dissections and teardowns
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Automotive Engineering required from an accredited university
  • An understanding of the effects of corrosion on various metal alloys/compositions
  • Competent with the Microsoft Office Suite of products including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, VBA
  • Strong time management, leadership, planning and follow up skills
  • Engineering experience within the automotive industry, testing experience preferred
  • Will consider new graduates with related co-op experience
  • Ability to support working days, afternoons, midnight shifts and weekends on occasion
  • Experience working in a unionized environment
  • Excellent written and oral skills
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada for any employer
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel to USA
PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Automotive/Aeronautical Engineering
