Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electric Motor Controls Engineer- Core to join our team supporting our client in the Automotive Industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Product development in one of the core areas of expertise within the motor subsystem - core torque controls, functional safety, diagnostics
  • Develop motor control and/or diagnostics and/or functional safety algorithms for electric motor subsystems
  • Ability to perform closed loop simulation and analysis of electric motor drives using MIL, SIL, HIL and pHIL technologies
  • Ability to execute technical algorithms and software for electric motor subsystems in embedded C and/or model based development environments
  • Work closely with software, calibration, motor and inverter design teams to ensure on-time, robust control systems
  • Creating goals, setting priorities, and interfacing with program stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and suppliers to ensure team deliverables are understood and on track
  • Technical root-causing and issue resolutions by working with system triage teams
  • Establishing and applying electric motor controls best practices from design to product launch
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aero or equivalent Engineering degree
  • Fundamental understanding of AC induction/PM motors, and their controls for automotive applications
  • Experience with modeling, simulation & development using embedded C
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in motor control subsystem development with focus on one or more areas of torque controls, functional safety and diagnostics
  • Experience in creating a positive team environment, clear direction and commitment
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills
  • Good teamwork skills and ability to work independently
PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Advanced degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering, or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited university
  • 3.5+ years experience with either motor controls, power electronics, AC/DC drive systems or a combination
  • Experience developing motor subsystem diagnostics for electric and hybrid electric automotive applications
  • Experience working with Autosar software architecture and Matlab model based design
  • Experience with NXP/TriCore/DSP 32-bit processors
  • Knowledge of DVP&R, FMEA analysis, and Software development processes
  • Experience in Agile development methodology
Remote with some travel to the US for meetings
