Job Description

On behalf of our Automation client we are currently recruiting for experienced Controls Specialists (Intermediate and Senior) to join their high end machine building team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Configuring and programming automation and controls systems using PLC, HMI and SCADA systems
  • Commission automation systems at the machine builder and final customer facilities
  • Troubleshoot PLC, robot and other automation problems
  • Update program backups for engineering changes and improvements
  • Provide detailed documentation throughout each project
  • Manage projects within a given timeframe including keeping track of project hours/time tracking with Operations Manager
  • Assist with project quoting, controls design and design updates
  • Collaborate and assist with Mechanical and Electrical Build Leader
  • Provide feedback through project lifecycle
  • North American travel associated with project requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in machine build and automation commissions environment (3 - intermediate; 5 - senior)
  • Experience starting machine builds from scratch and carrying through until deployment at customer site
  • Post - secondary education in a related field (Electrical, Controls, Automation)
  • 3 years of demonstrated work experience in a machine build environment programming on all controls related devices including:
    • PLC & HMI’s (Rockwell, Siemens, Omron)
    • Vision systems
    • Barcode scanners and printers
    • Smart sensors
    • Welding equipment
  • Experience with robots
  • Strong machine troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Must work well in a team environment
  • Able to read and comprehend controls/mechanical design drawings and prints
  • Able to translate prints into a functional machine
  • Excellent communications skills; able to work with team members; internal departments; suppliers and clients in a manner as to foster relations
  • Possess a clean driving record with 3 years’ of driving experience
  • Must have a valid passport and willingness and ability to travel without any restrictions throughout North America
