Job Description

On behalf of our agriculture infrastructure client, we are currently recruiting for an experienced Assistant Controller to join their team. This position is responsible for assisting in financial activities of the organization; prepares or directs preparation of reports that summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings, based on past, present, and expected operations. Areas of focus include SOX reporting, cost accounting, and financial reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyzes project tracking data to ensure that actual and estimated costs are appropriately recorded
  • Works with various operations personnel, including project managers to track progress on all active projects
  • Establishes, or recommends to management, major economic objectives and policies for company or subdivision
  • Ensures the adequacy of the accounting system as the basis for reporting to management
  • Considers the need for new or changed controls
  • Interprets the meaning of accounting records, reports, and statements
  • Recommends improvements, adaptations, or revisions in the accounting system and procedures
  • Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information
  • Establish, modify, document, and coordinate implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures
  • Verifies and posts details of business transactions to appropriate ledgers and journals, and totals accounts
  • Analyzes the effects of transactions upon account relationships
  • Directs preparation of budgets/forecasts
  • Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies
  • Assists the Controller in managing SOX controls procedures and audit requests
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions
  • Compares print-outs against source documents and journal entries to verify accuracy and prepares input forms to reconcile errors
  • Assists in financial planning, procurement, and investment of funds for the organization
  • Assist the Controller in day-to-day operations as needed

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree with Major in Accounting
  • 5 or more years accounting experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
