Job Description

Our client, an industry leading tier one supplier is looking for a strong Automation Controls Engineer, with an emphasis on Robotics, to join their team. This is a great opportunity to work with a growing team, great pay and benefits!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and implement PLC and HMI programs and use PLC for troubleshooting and machine diagnosis
  • Knowledge of hardware devices: relays, VFD’s, sensors, basic controls devices
  • Drive and support continuous improvement activities to existing automation processes
  • Work with AIV and AGV for future applications
  • Analyze, research, design, develop and test our equipment, materials and processes
  • Devise modeling and measuring techniques, troubleshoot machine control problems and facilitate software and process design that satisfies customer needs
  • Understand and create electrical / controls drawings
  • Willing to learn and become proficient with all aspects of control engineering job functions

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering technology
  • 6 years of experience PLC programming (creating and working with) using Siemens (required) and Allen Bradley (an asset)
  • Ability to create and troubleshoot (perform machine diagnosis) PLC and HMI programs and general knowledge of programming practices
  • Knowledge of hardware devices; relays, VFD's, sensors, basic controls devices (with a background in control networks including Ethernet/IP)
  • Familiarity with plant manufacturing including, electrical / controls technology in a production and processing environment, RS232 and RS485 protocol, vision and barcode scanning systems
  • Ability / desire to support and continuously improve existing automation processes
  • Devise modeling and measuring techniques, troubleshoot machine control problems and facilitate software and process design that satisfies customer needs.
  • Excellent computer skills with the ability to understand and create electrical / controls drawings
