Job Description

EDUCATION:

  • Master's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited University or equivalent is required
  • Masters of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree from an ABET accredited University or equivalent preferred

BASIC SKILLS:

  • Minimum of five years of experience using ADAMS (multi-body Dynamics software) to build/modify and run multi-body suspension simulations to perform durability loads calculations
  • Prefer candidates with at least 3 years of experience
  • Candidates with less experience may be considered, but only if they met the minimum requirements and have the skill set the manager is looking for
  • Candidates MUST have experience with ADAMS
  • Candidates MUST have experience with Analytical Dynamics (which includes Rigid Body Dynamics and Vibration)
  • Strongly prefer candidates with a background in the auto industry or those who possess a good knowledge of the automotive industry
  • Will be required to drive a company car
  • Valid driver’s license is required as well as a clean driving record
  • Will be required to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%
  • This will include regular visits to the US

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience in reviewing Road Load Data to ensure data fidelity
  • Have the ability to review and interpret data to address durability concerns
  • Experience with Motion-View, UNIX/Linux workstations, chassis/suspension design and functionality
  • Experience using nCode/GlyphWorks/Ice-flow data analysis software
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have the ability to work closely with the Data Acquisition and Customer Usage Duty Cycle groups

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This group provides all durability load data to perform Finite Element Durability Analysis (chassis, body, powertrain), design components and develop durability bench test parameters onsite and program Suppliers
  • The Loads Analysis Engineer performs the calculation of vehicle suspension component loads, frame/body attachment loads and engine mounts loads using ADAMS, along with using Motion View and nCode tools.
  • Performing Loads Analysis (which is the calculation of vehicle suspension component loads, frame/body attachment loads and engine mounts loads) using ADAMS.
  • Will also use MotionView and nCode tools.
  • Duties include building/modifying ADAMS (multi-body dynamics) models, which include full vehicle and suspension.
  • Review engineering data (geometry, bushing rates, etc.)
  • Review road load data (time history data).
  • Run durability models, which include full vehicle, 1/2 suspension and powertrain.
  • Output component loads, attachment loads, powertrain mount loads, etc.
  • Post-processing data (statistics-max/min values, equivalent damage, loads comparisons, histograms).
  • Technical report writing
  • Upload load data into project database
  • Perform advanced root cause analysis of problems and develop documentation for observed common issues
  • Ensure all customer inquiries are coordinated, tracked, and resolved appropriately to ensure timely resolution
  • Provide technical support on a variety of complex issues and engage with external solution providers as needed
  • Candidate must be competent to work at the highest technical level of all phases throughout support activities
  • Demonstrate expertise in a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • A degree of creativity and latitude is required
  • May guide various group on technical support activities as well as interface with engineering teams
  • Interface directly with customers who purchase the Uconnect 12.1 option
  • Customer base is primarily made up of Law Enforcement agencies
  • Includes end users, leadership, and IT contacts
  • Support internal representatives and law enforcement specialists with questions arising from product introductions
  • Evaluate needs specific to agencies who have challenges interfacing with the default configuration of our offering
  • Aggregate and provide customer feedback to internal contacts as appropriate
  • Interface with hardware/software solution providers with in-vehicle product overlap
  • Develop relationships to improve user adoption
  • Coordinate logistics for computing equipment in the demo fleet
  • Develop and maintain awareness of internal law enforcement vehicle activity
