Job Description

Our Tier 1, injection molding/automotive client is in search of a Production Supervisor to join their team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Directs the activities of the hourly work force in the mold, and assembly
  • Works closely with the production employees to maintain as high a level of productivity as possible while adhering to the quality standards demanded by our customers
  • Ensures that machines, materials and other resources are utilized as well as is possible
  • Catalyst for positive employee relations representing the interests of the company in all dealings with employees
  • Has the authority to direct the work efforts of all hourly employees assigned to his/her area
  • Recommend the hiring of staff terminating an employee after consultation with the Operations Manager and Human Resources
  • Responsible for the adherence to quality standards, efficiency levels, proper machine utilization, housekeeping and environmental health and safety practices and supplying accurate production data reporting for employees in his/her area
  • While directing the efforts of the hourly classifications, the Supervisor works to achieve the objective of meeting production schedules and delivery dates as committed to our customers
  • Prepares the daily job assignments, scheduling work hours and creating machine schedules, plan break/lunch schedules to maximize production output where required
  • Report attendance and discipline when necessary
  • Ensure efficient shift start-up procedures, all employee reporting and operating methods are being performed and checklists are being utilized
  • Responsible for total plant personnel during off shifts, including maintenance and shipping/receiving employees
  • Verify that work orders are completed, followed up and closed as required
  • Actively participate in production runs and prototype builds
  • Participates in administration of employee relations programs such as communications, job training, environmental health and safety programs and all those things that have to do with the ongoing development of employees (training, coaching, counseling, motivating, evaluation and job appraisal) which maintain harmonious relations between the employee and management
  • Exercises appropriate discipline, awards recognition and cares for the morale of employees
  • Assumes responsibility for accurate diagnosis of machine and tooling problems, machine malfunctions, etc. to expedite and coordinate corrective action
  • Plans and implements action plans for continuous improvement in accordance with the direction given by the Operations Manager
  • Treats all employees with dignity and respect. Conducts performance reviews in a timely manner
  • Ensure all TS/ISO/N5 and clients policies are adhered to
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to improve efficiencies, reduce scrap, downtime reduction, workplace organization, improve quality
  • Adhere to Environmental Health & Safety Policies and statutory compliance
  • Other duties as needed at the discretion of the Operations Manager

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 OAC or equivalent, post secondary education desirable i.e. technical degree or diploma
  • Supervisory experience in a union environment
  • Working knowledge of the quality control requirements of the jobs in operations; familiarity with operating methods, inspection procedures and gage checks
  • Strong knowledge of robotic lines
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation and WHIMIS
  • Computer knowledge and sound organizational skills
  • Proven communication skills, written and verbal
  • Must be capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Basic understanding of SPC
  • First Aid and CPR is an asset
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
