Job Description

On behalf of our World Class Manufacturing client we are currently recruiting for an experienced Product Quality Engineer.


  • Manage the release of new and modified Original Equipment Replacement service parts
  • Identify, track and approve testing and validation of new and modified service parts
  • Ensure parts have applicable Engineering documents created and corporate-released for compliance, traceability, and ease of future corporate reference
  • Track part releases through the multiple departments to ensure parts are placed on shelf in a timely fashion and without hindrances
  • Manage Engineering aspects of supplier-submitted Part Deviation requests and supplier Resourcing activities
  • Recommend and implement Technical Cost Reduction initiatives
  • Recommend and implement part Warranty Cost Reduction initiatives
  • Perform root cause analysis of warranty data and Improve/modify service parts design to address emerging warranty issues and reduce warranty cost
  • Understand Engineering aspects of past-model parts, such as design, specifications, and materials, in order to implement changes without affecting original design intent
  • Create Change Notices to document and approve Service Part releases and changes
  • Identify Validation requirements for service parts changes, track testing progress, and approve test results
  • Track and manage released service parts through downstream departments, such as Purchasing and Inventory Control, to insure timely Part release to on-shelf status
  • Create Design Work Requests to release Models and Drawings for service parts
  • Approve Engineering documents from suppliers' PPAP submissions, such as DVPR & DFMEA
  • Interface with Material Engineering, to approve service parts material deviation requests
  • Modify Parts' Service Procedures to optimize labor time, reducing warranty cost. Manage & update department databases
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 10+ years’ of Transmission Product or Quality Engineering experience to support the product (transmission) development/release and quality activities
  • Strong technical knowledge of the design and manufacture of transmissions & components for warranty reduction, re-manufactured & new service parts product design improvements and troubleshoot vehicle field issues
  • Good understanding of validation test plans & DFMEAs to partner with transmission platform management to execute re-manufactured parts program launch
  • Knowledge of dealer diagnostics and repair procedures for transmissions to manage & resolve transmission launch quality issues and manage continuous improvement activities
  • Experience in any of the following environments: Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Testing or Release to provide an independent confirmation of the transmission design, test, manufactured and purchased component processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Software: Word, Excel and PowerPoint / G-Suite tools
  • Experience of working in a lean/flat organization with cross functional skills, monitoring activities in collaboration with suppliers, internal Quality, Engineering & Technical Service operations
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities to ensure completion to an acceptable standard to deliver a quality product to the customer at launch and is responsible for ensuring launched products exceed customer expectations
  • Ability to prioritize current issues, resolve them in a timely manner and effectively communicate issues and solutions to internal teams and our customer
  • Excellent analytic skills to develop program specific quality strategies using benchmark product information
  • Will be required to drive a company car - valid driver's license is required as well as a clean driving record
  • Will be required to travel domestically and internationally (0-20%) to monitor customer product quality level at supplier manufacturing locations
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
