Job Description

On behalf of our food and beverage, manufacturing, client we are currently recruiting for an experienced Accountant (General Ledger) to join their team. The candidate will be a key member of the North American Accounting team, providing accounting and reporting services for stakeholders throughout Canada and USA in accordance with IFRS. This position is a key contributor to the accuracy of financial information and financial reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate, perform some aspects of the month-end close while meeting the prescribed deadlines
  • Assists with the monthly reporting packages to the senior management team
  • Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing information
  • Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, and resolving discrepancies
  • Maintain compliance with internal control policies and procedures as they relate to financial information, account reconciliations, journal entries and records
  • Assist with review and analysis of half year and year-end consolidated reporting packages
  • Assist with accounting issue research (business operations, accounting standard changes - IFRS)
  • Assists with preparation of various monthly reports for customers

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Minimum of two (2) - four (4) years of accounting experience in a similar or related manufacturing environment
  • Completed Accounting or Finance Degree with preference given to candidates who hold their CPA designation
  • Comments on main financial ratios and statement (P&L, balance sheet, cash flows) and provides basic variance analysis
  • Strong experience and exposure to IFRS (Internal Financial Reporting Standards) and financial reporting in Canada and USA
  • Familiar with basic concepts of internal controls and escalating identified issues
  • Knowledge of local tax concepts and ability to explain those concepts to others
  • Understands KPI's for the treasury process (rotation ratio, working capital needs, etc.) and key drivers of operational cash flow
  • Uses reporting tools for basic data extraction and analysis
  • Possess strong attention to detail, analytical and problem - solving skills
  • Proficient with MS Excel and able to analyze and interpret data and deliver complex reports on request
  • Comfortable interacting with people at all levels in an organization
  • Demonstrated high customer focus, step change innovation, and team building with the overall ability to make thing happen
