Job Description

On behalf of our client, we are currently recruiting for an experienced Civil/Structure Engineer to join their team. This position will be responsible for providing engineering input and assisting the Senior Director Bridges & Roads with the civil and structural work associated with plazas, bridges, and roads.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • During the project design and construction work with the Director of Construction to review and monitor contractor submittals to ensure compliance with the project technical requirements
  • Provide engineering input to the company and Owner Engineer quality teams for all structural matters and roadway works, including building, structural, retaining walls and bridges
  • Verify contract administration in coordination with the company, Owner Engineer, Michigan Department of Transportation and Bridging North America
  • Assist in the preparation of progress reports. Provide input to the financial team regarding Owner Engineer and Bridging North America invoices
  • Provide input to the scheduling team with respect to regular project schedule update and reporting
  • Work with project Independent Certifier on providing status updates and reporting on work progress
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • University Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) in Ontario or P.E. in Michigan
  • Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience alongside concrete and steel structure construction experience
  • Experience with P3 model and complex projects considered to be an asset
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Microstation, Civil 3D and structural software an asset
  • Ability to manage multiple issues concurrently with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Possesses strong negotiation, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and well-rounded knowledge of relationship management
  • Strong initiative and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and professionally communicate orally and in writing
  • Ability to obtain a Government of Canada Personnel Screening/ Security Clearance
  • Ability to travel within Ontario and Michigan
