Job Description

On behalf of our automotive client located in Windsor, ON, we are recruiting for a Materials Manager (Scrap) Full-time Direct placement. The successful person will be primarily responsible to manage all material requirements (planning/multiple products and scraps) for all multiple locations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and negotiate scrap contracts between all the facilities and suppliers of the company
  • Report and develop a statement to keep track of scrap money, and all direct material
  • Responsible in purchasing for all direct materials and scrap for every facilities/plant
  • Generate strategies for cost savings in material purchasing
  • Execute / monitor Material Requirement Planning calculations and messages
  • Drive maximum utilization of the ERP system for all MRP functions and inventory control
  • Interface with the Manufacturing and Quality groups to resolve material availability and production tracking issues on a real time basis
  • Monitor the "MRP to consumption" flow of materials from receipt to issuance; including release testing and material disposition manufacturing, and PD and assist with assigned scenario planning activities
  • Work with Supply Chain to develop and implement inventory and planning strategies to support both MRP and non-MRP activities
  • Lead the life cycle management process to optimize inventory, mitigate material expiry, and reduce scrap
  • Develop and report appropriate Planning related metrics to inform the organization and drive continuous improvement

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree, Business or Supply Chain Management preferred
  • Minimum Five years of material planning experience supporting manufacturing required, prefer heavy industrial environment
  • 5 years of experience in procurement, MRP/ERP system
  • MUST have sheet metal experience
  • Experience in Materials Planning, Scheduling, Forecasting, and Consumption Analysis
  • MS Office - Strong Excel skills is preferred
  • Exceptional organizational skills to deal with multiple priorities and changing schedules
  • Demonstrated analytical and reasoning skills using various problem solving techniques
  • Ability to interact with other departments in the plant, field sales and field service management to meet customer expectations and delivery
