Job Description

On behalf of our civil infrastructure and operation client, we are currently recruiting for a Health & Safety Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES
:

  • Leading and managing health and safety for the offices and construction sites (Ontario and Michigan) and provides technical guidance and support to the construction management team
  • Interface daily with the Project Co Safety Manager and representatives in all health and safety matters while working closely with all its sub-consultants and stakeholders
  • Develops, implements and maintains the Safety Management Plan, policies and procedures ensuring alignment with the health and safety commitment and culture
  • Represents the company in the role of Project Owner in the review and formal auditing of Project Co’s and sub-contractors safe work plans, practices and programs to ensure compliance with relevant Ontario and Michigan legislation and the Project Agreement
  • Monitors construction processes to ensure compliance with applicable standards and agreements before mobilization
  • Assists in the formulation of mitigation measures
  • Ensure all pertinent safety documentation and records are maintained by Project Co.
  • As a member of the Health & Safety committees, performs all of the necessary duties including supporting incident/accident investigations ensuring root cause analysis are completed as required, while verifying adequate corrective actions have been implemented
  • Leads ongoing hazard analyses and risk planning efforts as required
  • Works with Project Co to develop, implement and report on key health and safety metrics
  • Provides reports to management to be reviewed by the Board of Directors
  • Manages health and safety training programs for staff
  • Identifies and coordinates training for staff
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • University degree in a related field from a recognized university or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or related field
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) designation is an asset
  • Joint Health and Safety Committee certification
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification an asset
  • Minimum 5 years in a similar role demonstrating progressive management experience in infrastructure health and safety
  • Experience developing Health & Safety plans, programs and policies
  • P3 project related experience an asset
  • Experience working with WSIB
