Job Description

Our Tier 1, injection molding/automotive client is in search of a Manufacturing Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Comply with TS/ISO/N5 Procedures and adhere to all Environmental, H&S policies and procedures and applicable legislative requirements
  • Responsible for analyzing production standards and recommending process improvements in order to improve efficiencies, cycle times and reduce costs and scrap
  • Assist with production equipment OEE’s
  • Responsible of coordination of initial production runs and prototype builds
  • Processes capability improvements of production processes
  • Troubleshooting and assistance or guiding of maintenance personnel
  • Liaise with molding technicians to ensure efficient operation of thermoset and plastic molding processes
  • Responsible to ensures scrap and process capability targets are met
  • Preparation of equipment specifications
  • Development of new programs involving tooling and process
  • Creating flow charts, work instructions and provide assistance in the preparation of PFMEA’s
  • Processing of REQ’s
  • Compare offers and schedules
  • Participation in negotiations for the new equipment
  • Manufacturing Eng. is responsible for sourcing, integration, installation and set-up of equipment including all documentation and design reviews
  • Tracking and observation projects timelines and costs
  • Pre-acceptance of new equipment at supplier facility
  • Continually review work instructions and set-up sheets to verify accuracy and implement changes when necessary
  • Participate in problem solving efforts related to quality rejects (8-D resolution) and utilizing strong troubleshooting skills
  • Provide technical support and training for plant personnel
  • Provide assistance in tracking of information used to create data for key measurable reporting
  • Seeks to make improvements and upgrades in areas such as floor planning (equipment arrangement), PLC and PLC interface problems, electronic interface problems, electrical specifications, material handling at the machine site, gauging ergonomics and mechanical press and heater improvements
  • Making recommendations for equipment purchase when necessary such as, but not limited to, conveyors, sensors, fixtures, racks, end of arm tooling, mould tools etc.
  • Evaluate areas of plant production performance as assigned by the Technical Supervisor in order to plan and implement improvements in product processing and flow

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Mechanical/Electrical Engineer/Technologist
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in plastic, thermoset or rubber molding and processing
  • Process and production orientation
  • Knowledge of FMEA, CAD
  • Process development for concept designs
  • Problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of PLC programming and trouble shooting (Allan Bradley and Siemens)
  • Robotics, pick and place and testing experience – ABB and KUKA
  • Knowledge of vision systems
  • Industrial engineering experiences an asset
  • Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics and controls
  • Experience in supporting daily manufacturing operations
  • Process development for concept designs
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Travel activity
  • Periodic overtime required, readiness to work on weekend if required
  • May be required to provide technical support on a 24-hour basis
