Job Description

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university

SKILLS:

  • Powertrain Proactive Quality & Reliability Engineer to support advanced electrified propulsion systems from concept phase through launch
  • Experience in conventional/electrified powertrain development and validation process
  • Experience working with/leading diverse teams with pronounced interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present to various types of audiences, at various levels of management
  • May be required to drive a company vehicle – valid driver’s license & clean driving record
  • May be required to travel – domestic

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Design for Six Sigma or Robust Engineering certification (Black Belt, Green Belt)
  • Familiarity with quality measurement methodology, warranty analysis, and third party metrics (Consumer Reports, J.D. Power)
  • Experience in Product Quality and Reliability Engineering
  • Experience working with Powertrain Hardware, Calibration and OBD

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible to deliver world-class reliability for new vehicle programs by combining engineering fundamentals with deep understanding of product development, to include: Assist engineering in performing new program risk assessments to determine which proactive reliability tools should be applied to best mitigate that risk
  • Apply Proactive Reliability Process to future systems including DFMEA, Engineering Requirements, and test planning
  • Work with Engineering to identify lessons learned from field and test issues
  • Identify vehicle and system level test issues, perform reliability analysis of test data and develop validation recovery plans
  • Implement new reliability methods and accelerated testing to vehicle systems

Specific Duties:

  • Support powertrain development process as Proactive Quality & Reliability Engineer
  • Perform program risk assessments along the powertrain development timeline
  • Facilitate the creation of risk mitigation plans and track mitigation plan actions with key stakeholders
  • Utilize DFSS methods to develop robust design solutions
  • Train design engineers in DFMEA and facilitate DFMEA workshops
  • Review and report component, system and vehicle reliability growth and validation test status
  • Monitor core deliverables in adherence to the global powertrain development process
  • Develop new tools and methods to improve effectiveness of processes
  • Support standardization and documentation of Quality & Reliability procedures
