Job Description

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

SKILLS:

  • Minimum of 10+ years’ of Transmission Product /Quality Engineering experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of the design and manufacture of transmissions & components
  • Good understanding of validation test plans & DFMEAs
  • Knowledge of dealer diagnostics and repair procedures for transmissions
  • Experience in at least one of the three following environments: Manufacturing Quality, Engineering, Testing or Release
  • Proficient in Microsoft Software: Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience of working in a lean/flat organization with cross functional skills
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (20%) to Kokomo Indiana Plant & Suppliers in Oklahoma & Illinois
  • May be required to drive a company vehicle – valid drivers license and clean driving record required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Quality experience is strongly desired
  • Manufacturing, design release and or supplier quality experience are preferred
  • Ability to prioritize current issues, resolve them in a timely manner and effectively communicate issues and solutions to internal teams and our customer
  • Excellent analytic and problem solving skills
  • Familiarity with Change Management & Data Systems

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Powertrain Quality Transmission Engineer will be responsible for product development release and quality monitoring activities in collaboration with suppliers, internal Quality, Engineering & Technical Service Operations with a focus on:
    • Warranty Reduction
    • Reman and new Service Part Product Design Improvements
    • Troubleshooting vehicle field issues
    • Recommendation and implementation of process improvements at supplier manufacturing locations
  • The responsibilities of the Powertrain Quality Transmission Engineer will include at a minimum:
    • Partnering with transmission platform management to execute Remanufactured parts program launch
    • Manage & resolve transmission launch quality issues and manage continuous improvement activities
    • Develop program specific quality strategies using benchmark product information
    • Provide an independent confirmation of the transmission design, test, manufactured and purchased component processes
    • Ensure completion to an acceptable standard to deliver a quality product to the customer at launch and is responsible for ensuring launched products exceed customer expectations
    • Demonstrated leadership abilities
    • Plan, prioritize, set goals and manage multiple projects in a technical and business environment
    • Exhibit a willingness to do things differently and consistently translate ideas in to actions that deliver results
    • Monitor customer product quality levels, with a focus on improvement through corrective action and product/process enhancements
    • Develop relationships and work closely with the various internal Engineering Organizations to ensure transfer of product knowledge within the appropriate service organizations


*Full time position but would consider 20-hours/week for a SME with extensive Powertrain experience
