Job Description

On behalf of our metal stamping client we are currently recruiting for an experienced Quality Manager to join their team. If you bring 5 years of demonstrated quality management experience in metal stamping - we have the opportunity for you. This position reports directly to the Corporate Quality Manager and has 5 direct reports.


EDUCATION:

  • Degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Industrial


SKILLS:

  • 5 - 7 years of quality management experience in a fast paced production/manufacturing environment (preference given to candidates with metal stamping experience)
  • Experience working with castings, machine parts and domestic and international suppliers is preferred
  • Experience in automotive industry (PFMEA, Control Plan, PPAP)
  • Solving complex problems using various problem solving techniques (8D, Fish bones, 3 legged, 5 Why) with a focus on root cause analysis
  • Supervision of 5 direct reports in the areas of containment, calibration/testing, and quality inspection
  • Interpretation and implementation of the company's ISO Quality Manual including setting up, establishing and evaluating the procedures
  • Proven launch experience (including engineering changes) using APQP and PPAP to ensure launch readiness
  • Complete various weekly and monthly reporting to management
  • Maintain accurate records and provide information on KPI's
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, planning, research and problem solving skills within a variety of situations
  • Proven ability to interpret a variety of instructions (written, oral, diagrams, or schedules) provided
  • Able to travel without restrictions when required (auto, airplane, train)


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the Quality System Maintenance (continual improvement to enhance the system, develop and implement training to build quality awareness, etc.)
  • Interprets current quality data to determine that present quality standards and policies meet established quality goals and reliability of finished product
  • Coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize cost
  • Ensure successful new product launches (including engineering changes) using APQP, PPAP and launch readiness activities
  • Working with vendors as required to insure quality of all purchased parts for company use
  • Provide oversight on calibration and inspection (criteria and training) procedures, including the documentation of instruments, calibration, calibration times and record keeping
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective action for process related concerns using problem solving techniques
  • Analyze failure, corrective and preventative action to respond to customer complaints
  • Maintain quality documentation, such as quality manuals, quality procedures and other relevant written processes
  • Responsible for planning, organizing and managing the overall activities of receiving/outgoing quality functions (including internal and external audits)
  • Conduct audits, including closing out audit findings, creating audits, finding reports and determining proper corrective and preventive actions
  • Ensure timely resolution failure, corrective actions and preventative actions
  • Manage supplier's performance and conduct audits
