Senior Electrical Engineer

Education Level:

P.Eng in Electrical Engineering required
or an equivalent combination of education and experience working from within the processing and/or petrochemical industry


Experience Level and Skills:

minimum 8 years in electrical systems including, but not limited to, lighting, heat tracing, panel boards, MCC's, cable and cable routing methods, medium and low voltage, grounding, area classification and control
solid understanding and knowledge of the field of electrical engineering and are able to work effectively in a team environment to deliver effective project work packages for petrochemical, refining and light industrial clients
Working knowledge of planning and control methods
Understanding of electrical systems including, but not limited to, lighting, heat tracing, panel boards, MCC's, cable and cable routing methods, medium and low voltage, grounding, area classification and control
General understanding of industry and regulatory standards and design criteria
Knowledge of electrical codes and standards, industrial design practices and construction methods
Proficiency in a variety of standard engineering methods and techniques
EPC/ petrochemical experience is a must


Position Responsibilities:

Detailed analysis of electrical systems for fault, coordination and arc flash
Ability to analyze problems, organizing investigations and determining specific design criteria
Advising and instructing team members in the use of new methods and technology
Determining and scheduling work priorities
Revising design specifications and suggesting new alternatives
Quality checks of construction work packages
Design capability as required
Field investigation of equipment and installations
Study of applicable codes, standards and product information to produce detailed calculations, construction drawing packages, scopes of work and specifications
